LAMBERT - MANUFIL FREQUENTLY-ASKED QUESTIONS
1° How is steel wire made? The raw material is machined wire, the diameter of which is reduced by repeated drawing through drawplates. This cold stretching increases the hardness of the wire. 2° Why is wire annealed? To counteract the hardening effect of wire-drawing. The wire takes back its original characteristics again - flexibility, stretchability, malleability. It can then be tied-up. 3° How are nails made? On high-speed presses, up to 800 nails per minute. The wire is first drawn onto coils, then fed continuously into the machines. A hammer forges the heads while blades cut the points in a repeated synchronised movement. 4°What are delivery times like? Standard products are more or less available from stock.: - Bright wire, diameters 3,4,5,6,7,8 and 10 mm in coils. - Annealed wire all standard diameters - Ordinary flat-head nails - Standard special nails : chisel-point, twisted, ringged and notched nails 5° Are you EPAL-approved for components to make EUROPE pallets? Yes, in the following sizes:
6° What is the purpose of hot galvanisation? To protect the wire with a layer of zinc to prevent from rusting. Other forms of protection are possible after the wire has been worked : painting, electro-galvanising, epoxy coating, etc.
